Jonathan Henrichs, DVM
Owner, Veterinarian

Dr. Jonathan Henrichs founded Empire Equine Veterinary Services to provide the highest quality, compassionate, personalized and expert care for the horses of Southern Arizona. Originally from Michigan, Dr. Henrichs grew up surrounded by a wide variety of animals from a young age. He earned his Bachelor of Science from Cornell University, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Afterward he spent the following five years working as a draft horse farmer, wrangler and horse trainer on ranches and farms across the United States, followed by an additional two years in Tucson, AZ as an equine veterinary assistant. He then attended Washington State University where he earned his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine with Phi Zeta honors distinction, graduating in the top ten percent of his class. During vet school he took advantage of opportunities to work for three years in the University's emergency equine surgery service, as well as care for working equines in the Andes mountains of Peru, and participate in published research investigating the safety of equine pain medications. After earning his degree Dr. Henrichs moved back to Tucson where he worked for four years as an Equine Veterinarian at Reata Equine Veterinary Group. During this time he was proud to serve as the primary care veterinarian for the horses of the United States Border Patrol across Southern Arizona. Finally deciding to open his own practice, Dr. Henrichs founded Empire Equine Veterinary Services in 2026. He lives in Vail with his wife Danielle, their son Henry, and their many animals including two mares, May and June.
